About The Arranger:
My name is Katherine Knecht, and I specialize in vocal, choral and piano arranging. I also arrange for guitar and some other instruments, and prepare lead sheets. I have a B.A. in Music and Voice from Brigham Young University, and I have been composing/arranging for over 20 years. Several of my choral arrangements have won awards, and I have served as a judge of the LDS Church General Music Contest. Please feel free to discuss your project with me.
KnechtMusic Services:
The first step is to discuss your project by e-mail (please describe your project in the form below). Then you will send your hand-written music or CD/tape for evaluation, and I will quote you a per-page rate BEFORE I begin work. Rates for typesetting, arranging and transcription are low, and depend upon the complexity of the project (see Services Available below). After we have discussed your project, mail your recording or hand-copied music to:

SERVICES AVAILABLE:
Typesetting: Send your hand-copied music, your name, address and phone number, writer credits and publisher (if any), and a lyric sheet (if applicable, and typed if possible). Your hand-copied music will be typeset on white, extra bright paper. You will need to prepare a legible copy of the music, ensuring that all symbols are either standard or explained on an attached sheet. Remember that copyright restrictions forbid arranging copyrighted music or reprinting copyrighted lyrics without the permission of the copyright holder. Mail a copy of your work for evaluation, and I will quote you a per page rate. Corrections (or errors of your own) on the first draft will be made free of charge. I am a meticulous typesetter. Typesetting is done with Finale 2001d. Click here to see sample pages. Actual resolution of the printout will be better than what you view in the sample pages (i.e., ties, slurs and braces will not look jagged).

Lead Sheet Transcription: Send a lyric sheet (preferably typed), writer credits and publisher (if any), your name, address and phone #, and your cassette or CD recording. You will be provided with a lead sheet (on white, extra bright paper), typeset with Finale 2001d.
Transposition of music to desired key: If the range of your music is too high or low to perform, I will transpose it to a more comfortable key.
Arranging: I specialize in vocal, choral, piano and guitar arranging. If you are interested in an arrangement for different types of instrumentation, please contact me and describe your project. Click here to view and/or download a sample choral arrangement from this site.
Send your melody (sung or played on cassette or CD, or hand-copied) with a lyric sheet (if applicable, and typed if possible) and I will arrange it for choir, or as a vocal solo or small ensemble. I also do guitar arrangements and lead sheets. Remember that copyright restrictions forbid arranging others' copyrighted music.
